2000 Annual Conference

Here is a bit of what you missed at the 2000 conference:

Featured Plenary Speakers:

Paige Patterson, Ph.D.
President of:
Southern Baptist Convention, and
Southeastern Baptist Theo. Sem.

Dr. Patterson is the first seminary president to also serve as the president of the SBC in over 50 years. He is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned both his master's and doctor of theology degrees.

Dr. Patterson began preaching at the age of 14, and has visited several dozen countries spreading the gospel through revival crusades, missionary assignments and study tours. He has extensive editorial experience and served as the managing editor of "The Believer's Study Bible."

Before joining Southeastern Seminary, Dr. Patterson served as president of The Criswell College and associate pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas for 17 years. Prior to his ministry in Dallas, he served churches in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Dr. Patterson understands the vital roles which the doctrines of both inerrancy and sufficiency play in the practical life and health of the Body of Christ. For this reason, he is eager to help us encourage and promote the rediscovery and effective use of God's Word, as our sufficient resource for relational problems of the soul (psyche).

Together with his wife, Dr. Carol Almy, he has written two insightful books:

Exposing the False Gospel of Psychotherapy

How Christian is Christian Counseling:
The Dangerous Secular Methods That Keep Us from Caring for Souls

His wife, Carol, has a dermatology practice, which she has chosen to limit in order to maintain her priorities at home.
